Finally! Photos from the Bathroom Remodel

Here it is! Pretty much complete including the newly tiled and operational shower area! We're so excited. It turned out very nicely but there's still a tiny bit of finishing to do around the edges.

I love political humor!

Kind Suggests Bailing out Bankers

In a local radio interview in September, Congressman Ron Kind suggests bailing out the bankers. Well, he got his wish and now you and I are on the hook for over a trillion dollars just so the poor babies on Wall Street can continue to afford their limos.

By the way, have you noticed how wonderful the economy is now that Kind's bailout passed? You didn't? Oh, that's right. IT DIDN'T WORK!

Stark on Government Spending

Paul Stark, Republican candidate for Congress, points out Ron Kind's inability to stop wasteful spending in Washington.

'Twas the night before elections

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a dog in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

" On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi"
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND vote!

Mitchell and friends

Mitchell and his friends turned our backyard into a battlefield last weekend. They raked all of the leaves in the yard into bunkers and waged their "war". Not sure who the enemy is.. it's an imaginary one. Our neighborhood is full of boys. 3 brothers, Carson, Connor and Riley ( it was their house that the trampoline incident with Amanda's broken leg happened) and Dillon.

Amanda was in the house in her usual spot of late, the couch, still not walking. Please keep her in your prayers, that she can get over her fears and use that mended leg again. She has started going to Physical Therapy to regain mobility.

Why I'm Voting Democrat

I'm voting Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I'm voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I've decided to marry my horse.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I'm voting Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm voting Democrat because when we pull out of Iraq I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing because they now think we're good people.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I'm voting Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as THEY see fit.

I'm voting Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

I'm voting Democrat because my head is so firmly planted up my @#% it's unlikely that I'll ever have another point of view.

"A Liberal is a person who will give away everything they don't own"

The Most Powerful Position in the World

This is what the LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. For the sake of Jacob my servant, of Israel my chosen, I summon you by name and bestow on you a title of honor, though you do not acknowledge me. I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things. - Isaiah 45:1-7

Over the past months (or what seems like years!) many dollars have been spent by political candidates to convince voters of different parties and persuasions that they are the individuals qualified to lead in the office for which they are running. In just a few weeks, Americans will cast their vote for local, state, and federal officials. Included will be a vote for the President of the United States. One news commentator said that this office is the "most powerful position in the world." If that is true, what a grave decision we have to make! What if collectively we choose the "wrong" candidate?

In the "crunch" time of Election 2008, the words above from the Prophet Isaiah written 2700 years ago can bring calm to our hearts. The Lord God already holds the most powerful position in the world! He knows who will be the next President. For that matter, he already knows how he will use him to carry out his plan for the world, even if the next President does not acknowledge the Lord God of the Bible as his God. He did it years ago when he "took hold of the right hand" of Cyrus, a pagan ruler in Persia and used him to "subdue nations" and "strip kings of their armor," i.e. to defeat the Babylonian Empire (see Scripture above). This action allowed the Lord's people Israel to return to their homeland of Canaan.

We are blessed to have the ability to participate in our political process and as responsible citizens, we should do that. But when we get worried or concerned about what is going to happen to America, or this world, rest assured that the One who truly rules the world, the LORD, the one who "formed the light and created the darkness," is in control. He tells us, "I, the LORD, do all these things."

Prayer:
Lord God, we have to admit that sometimes we worry and fret about life because we feel out of control. Too often we forget that you truly do control all things. Forgive us. Lead us today to look to you and marvel at how you have taken care of our biggest problem in life, that of our sin through the life, death and resurrection of your Son Jesus. Realizing our biggest issue in life has been resolved by you, let us find peace knowing you alone hold the most powerful position in the world and will use that position for our blessing. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.

Wisonsin's Governor For Life Tommy Thompson

State Senator Dan Kapanke Fires up the Crowd

This is one of the greatest guys you could ever meet. He's a seed salesman in the "real world" and also owns the La Crosse Loggers baseball team with his wife Ruth. He was elected to the state senate in 2004 and you really cannot meet a nicer guy.

Senator McCain Visits La Crosse

Below is some of the video footage I took at the La Crosse McCain rally. When I stopped by the McCain victory center a couple of nights before the event I had some great conversations with volunteers and campaign staff. Clint, from the McCain campaign, was very knowledgeable and impressive. He arranged for the eighth graders from my kids' school to attend the rally and set us up in a very good spot. My deep thanks to Clint and all the volunteers who did a terrific job of making this such a memorable day.

The students were so excited to be taking part in this historic election. It was a real joy to see them have such a good time meeting the great leaders of our state and nation. They shook hands with Governor Tommy Thompson, Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch, State Senator Dan Kapanke, congressional candidate Paul Stark, and John and Cindy McCain.

Mitchell got to shake Cindy McCain's hand and she even called him "honey."
