Welcome to the Chris Muller blog

All right, I think I've had it with this so-called "family blog", because to me that's not what it is at all anymore. First of all, Chris and I have been the only people to post anything in months, and second of all, it has pretty much just become a place for Chris to spew his political and religious beliefs. It wouldn't even be so bad if you weren't just outright insulting, Chris. Especially when you know damn well that more than one person in your family is a "dumocrat". I think it absolutely inappropriate for this blog to continue to be yet ANOTHER place online for Chris to spit out more of his political viewpoints, and I regret the fact that I have at least once followed suit with my own viewpoints. You already have places set aside for these kinds of commentary, Chris. This blog should not be yet another. Enough is enough, especially when people are utterly and blatantly disrespectful and frankly, immature. So if anyone at all besides Chris and myself is even reading this.....which I doubt....hopefully you'll agree with me and maybe even start posting something worth reading. It would be nice if this was what I hoped it would be in the beginning--a place where we could all keep up with each others lives, rather than Chris's latest favorite bible quote or pet political project.

Laura, I say this with all seriousness and in the Spririt of your wiser, older brother: life is hard and you will suffer many disappointments and personal tragedies before your journey is complete. My advice to you is that you grow a sense of humor sooner rather than later. If you had one already, you would have recognized the humorous Spirit in which I wrote the post that seems to have bruised your sensibilities and caused you so much angst.

I was in Viola last week to help some of the flood victims get their lives and properties back in order. The thing that struck me even more than the devastation of the town was that the people all were in very good spirits and continued to joke around with each other. The point is that even in the worst of situations if you have a good sense of humor and a spiritual foundation and can laugh at yourself and your own circumstances then you will get through any tragedy or disappointment.

Diane thinks I should apologize for using the word "dumocrats." I disagree. I am not at all sorry for using that word because it was intended to be the trigger to let people know I was in a jovial mood about the whole gas situation. I do not like paying $4 per gallon so I vented on MY blog. If you were offended then that's a problem that you'll need to deal with. Perhaps you should analyze why it is you are so easily offended. Grow a sense of humor and you will find that life is much easier to endure.

It is somewhat sad that you don't think I have a sense of humour. I guess you don't know me very well. Although I will admit, when it comes to conversations with you, my sense of humour is greatly overshadowed by frustration. We are and always will be, I think, diametrically opposed to one another in our ideas and opinions. I think it is hard for me to have a sense of humour with you on topics of religion and politics because these are subjects on which we have always clashed. And if you try, maybe you can understand what it must be like for me, the little sister who no one ever really takes seriously, when my ideas and opinions are often thrust aside just because you're "the older wiser brother".

I love you Chris, but you definitely drive me crazy. And by the way, we should have been paying $4 for gas a long time ago. It's high time we realize that oil is not some magical liquid that appears out of thin air, will never run out, and has no adverse affects on the earth. There are other, better ways to live our lives. Yes, change is sometimes hard to accept, especially when you're old.....but in this case I know it will eventually be in everyone's best interests.

It doesn't surprise me that you want higher gas prices because you often have been quite short sighted in your thinking. Higher gas prices lead to increased costs for transportation. Increased costs for transportation (shipping, trucking, air freight) leads to higher prices on everything else (produce, textiles, etc). Thankfully, you are in the minority opinion on this and I pray the American people have this issue on the front of their minds when they visit the polls in November. There is a stark contrast between Republicans and Democrats on this: Republicans believe in getting government out of the way so individuals can be successful while Democrats believe in even more government control to make sure we are all equally miserable. Republicans are pushing for legislation to open up more options for producing energy and Democrats are pushing for more bike riding and horse drawn carriages. The choice is clear. Vote in November to make your voice heard.
